Renault Twizy named Tech Transport of the Year
Stuff magazine has named the flamboyant Renault Twizy its Tech Transport of the Year at its annual awards ceremony held at the London Film Museum in Covent Garden.
The awards are designed to celebrate the best technology to have been released over the past twelve months, whether it’s hardware, software, accessories or other.
The Renault Twizy has been hauled as the first fully-electric urban two-seater. It’s been especially popular with private leasing customers in city areas thanks to its zero emissions, which makes it exempt from road tax.
Stuff’s overall verdict was strong, with a representative saying: “The Twizy might well be the answer to a question that very few people were asking.
“But it’s an answer that’s delivered in such a charming, unusual way that it defrosts the hearts of all who see it.
“Drive it and that slightly condescending ‘aww’ turns into an excited ‘ooh’ as you realise how much of an urban weapon the Twizy really is – instant-on electric torque and a wheel at each corner combine to make every traffic gap an attainable goal.
“It’s brilliant.”
Andy Heiron, Renault UK’s Head of Electric Vehicles Programme, said: “I’m delighted to accept the Tech Transport award. Stuff’s recognition of the innovative Twizy is praise indeed.
“We’re confident that after experiencing the refined and responsive driving experience of a purely electric vehicle, combined with the financial and environmental benefits of switching to an electric vehicle, buyers are also smitten”
The Renault Twizy has an incredibly bold design and is an amazingly affordable eco option for people looking for a technologically-advanced city car that’s cost-effective to run.
The Stuff award sits proudly on the Twizy’s mantelpiece alongside the Culture Award from the inaugural Attitude Magazine Awards and the Red Dot Award for Best of the Best Product Design.

I can’t really see the Twizy catching on here in Scotland. You look like a total dickhead driving one.
Same can be said of a lot of cars to be honest. I think they definitely have their place in the automotive world, just so long as it’s not my driveway.
